Carcase records

Abattoir feedback per slaughtered calf — HSCW, dressing %, GR fat, EMD, IMF, eating grade. This is what closes the terminal-sire loop: carcase records are stored against the animal and inform the bull impact Monte Carlo. Carcase traits can be evaluated one at a time on published Angus parameters; no accuracy gain has been measured on real carcase data yet.

For one-off records or correcting existing ones. Pick the animal first; the rest are filled in from the abattoir slip.

Carcase grid optimiser

For each bull in the herd, project the expected carcase profile of bull × cow-herd-average progeny, run it against your target grid, and rank bulls by expected $ per progeny on that grid. Use this to choose the bull that best fits the buyer you're aiming at.

MLA example grids: weight and fat bands as printed in MLA's Livestock Data Link example (2013); prices are the five-year average of Beef Central weekly kill-grid quotes (in today's dollars). No retailer or processor grid is built in — enter your own for a real offer.
