Phones (calving app)

The calving app (calving.genemap.com.au) works offline in the paddock. A phone paired with this herd sends its calvings, disposals and joining records here automatically whenever it has signal. Records made before a phone was paired stay on the phone until you import them below.

1 · Pair a phone

Give the phone a name you will recognise, then open the link on that phone (or scan the code). The link works once per phone and can be revoked at any time. Anyone holding the link can add records to this herd — send it only to your own phone.

2 · Phones and what they still hold

Each paired phone reports, every time it syncs, how many records it is still holding. Waiting will send by itself when the phone has signal. Before pairing needs the phone's saved records file (section 3). Refused records were rejected by a check (for example a date before the animal's birth) and need correcting on the phone.

3 · Import a saved records file

On the phone, open Save records and save the file, then choose it here. Nothing is written until you press Import. Records already received are recognised and not duplicated, so importing the same file twice is safe. Animals and paddocks from the app's practice herd are matched to this herd by tag or name; anything that cannot be matched is listed for you to choose — nothing is guessed.
