The basics

What is Genemap?

Genemap is a livestock-genetics decision platform. It takes your country's breed-society evaluations (EBVs / EPDs / ASBVs) plus your operation's structure (breeding system, costs, retention rate, market grid) and re-derives the dollar weight on every breeding value for your specific farm. The same bull is worth different money on different operations — Genemap shows you that difference.

Who is it for?

Beef and sheep producers in any country. Commercial producers, seedstock breeders, breed societies, processors and integration partners. From a 200-cow self-replacing herd to a 5,000-bull stud operation.

How is it different from my breed society's index?

Your breed society publishes one industry index calibrated to an "average" producer. Genemap takes the same input EBVs and re-derives them against your specific operation. Same data; different (per-farm) economics.

How long does setup take?

About 5 minutes. Pick your country and town, pick your production system, fill in the seven farm-profile inputs that drive your weights. The engine works at any stage and gets sharper as you fill more in.

How it works

What data do you need from me?

Minimum: country, town, species, production system. With that, Genemap reads your local climate, your local market, your country's breed evaluations and applies a starting set of bioeconomic weights.

To sharpen: breeding system, calving time, joining length, retention rates, target grid and gross margin per head. To unlock per-farm GWAS: SNP genotypes from your usual lab. To close the calibration loop: realised slaughter outcomes from your processor.

Do I need genotyping data to use Genemap?

No. Genemap works with whatever data you have. Pedigree-only producers get full bioeconomic weighting. Producers with EBVs/EPDs get full ranking. Producers with genotypes additionally unlock per-farm GWAS / per-trait DGV.

What if my country isn't natively wired?

The AI translator (Claude-backed) reads any breed society's published evaluations on demand. Native ingestor coverage is added when a country reaches commercial volume; the AI fallback is production-ready today and demonstrated on the AI demo page.

Is the maths actually open?

Yes. Every coefficient is in the source code. Override any coefficient on the rank page and watch the rankings shift in real time. No proprietary index, no black box. The methodology is documented at /methodology.html.

What production systems are supported?

Beef: pastoral, semi-intensive grain finishing, feedlot finishing, Wagyu long-fed, Hanwoo intensive, fully housed (ungtjur), dairy-beef cross, cow-calf on pasture, Brazilian confinamento, indigenous tropical breeds.

Sheep: wool-primary Merino, dual-purpose maternal, terminal sire, shedding sheep, pelt-primary Gotland/Karakul, dairy sheep, US Western Range, UK/IE upland maternal, Patagonian Merino.

Pricing & trial

What's included in the free trial?

14 days of full Producer-tier access. No card required to start. Set up your country, town and production system, upload a catalogue, see your per-farm rankings.

Can I switch tiers later?

Yes — upgrade or downgrade any time from your account settings. Pro-rated billing applies; downgrades take effect at next renewal.

What if I want a tier that isn't listed?

Email partners@genemap.com.au — Enterprise tier is custom-shaped for breed societies, processors and integration partners. We'll talk through what fits.

Do you offer breeder discounts?

Annual billing saves 20% across all tiers. Multi-year commitments and breed-society partnerships get further discounts — contact us.

Data & privacy

Where does my data live?

Your operation data sits in Genemap's Supabase tenancy (Australia region by default), with row-level security enforced at the database layer. Your data is only accessible to your authenticated session.

Anonymised regional aggregates flow into the regional anchors table; minimum bucket size is 5 producers per (country, species, production system). Below that, no aggregate is published.

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell or share identifiable producer data with any third party (including breed societies, processors or labs) without your explicit consent. See the full privacy policy.

What does the AI translator see?

Only the raw breed-society trait code, value and units. Your operation data, location, herd records, costs, slaughter data and producer identity are never sent to Claude. Anthropic does not retain inputs sent via the API.

Can I export my data?

Yes — download all your operation data at any time as CSV / JSON from your account settings. You can also delete your account and all associated data.

For partners

How does my breed society integrate with Genemap?

Three tiers — Tier 1 (native ingestor with direct data agreement), Tier 2 (AI translator on the public reference tables), Tier 3 (white-label deployment). See the Partners page for full details.

I'm a processor — can I push kill data into Genemap?

Yes. Per-processor parser ingests your kill report by EID; producers' realised slaughter outcomes flow into their closed-loop calibration automatically. Webhook integration available on Enterprise tier.

I'm a genotyping lab — can I push results to producer accounts?

Yes. Partner-key API enables direct lab-to-producer pipelines for SNP arrays and WGS. Producer authorises the lab; results flow into per-farm DGV calculation.
