Why we built Genemap
We're proud to be in a position to help Australian sheep and beef producers get a deeper,
clearer understanding of the genetics behind every animal in their operation.
Better information leads to better breeding decisions. Better breeding decisions lead
to better outcomes — for the producer, for the animals, for the land, and for the industry
as a whole. The genetic data exists already. The performance records exist already. The
market data exists already. What's been missing is a platform that brings them together,
keeps them current, and turns them into something a working breeder can actually act on
this morning.
That's what Genemap is for. Sheep producers and beef producers, from a 200-head smallholding
to a multi-flock stud, all working from the same engine, all making decisions on data
that's tuned to their specific operation rather than an industry average.
Common questions
What counts towards the head count?
Active animals in your flock — ewes, rams, ewe and ram lambs being retained, sale rams. Animals you've sold or culled don't count, and historical animals from imported pedigrees don't count either. Only animals you currently run.
What if my flock size changes during the year?
We re-check your head count quarterly. If you've moved up or down a tier, your annual fee adjusts on the next billing cycle — no surprise charges, no clawback. Lambing increases and post-sale decreases both flow through automatically.
Yearly vs monthly billing — what's the difference?
Same total either way. Yearly billing means one annual invoice; monthly billing means one twelfth of that annual figure each month. There's no discount for paying yearly and no premium for paying monthly. Pick whichever matches your cash flow.
Do I need to bring genomic test data to use Genemap?
No. Genemap works from pedigree and EBVs alone — you'll see live, enterprise-tuned breeding values from day one. Loading genomic test results sharpens the picture further, but it's not a prerequisite. Bring whatever data you have.
Can I bring my MerinoSelect / LAMBPLAN ASBVs in?
Yes — Sheep Genetics format is auto-detected on upload. Your published ASBVs are kept as the prior, then refined against your own data on Genemap. Nothing is overwritten without your control.
What about cattle?
Cattle producers run on the beef stream at
Genemap Beef. Same per-head pricing structure, same engine, BREEDPLAN / Zoetis Inherit Select / IGS / Igenity Beef format support.
Is my data shared with anyone?
No, by default. Your raw data never leaves your account. Two features are strictly opt-in and
off by default: anonymous reference-population contribution (shares de-identified SNP genotypes only — never phenotypes, breeding values or animal identifiers — and is instantly revocable) and cross-business genotype pooling for breed-cooperatives (bilateral, revocable consent). Either way, your phenotypes and breeding values never leave your account.
See exactly how your data is handled.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel via Settings → Organisation. Pro-rata refund within the first 30 days; after that, billing simply stops at the end of the current period.
