Wool-primary Merino, dual-purpose maternal, terminal sire slaughter-lamb, shedding sheep, pelt-primary Gotland and Karakul, and dairy sheep — each modelled correctly with the right traits weighted the right way for your enterprise.
A wool-primary Merino flock isn't ranked the same way as a terminal-sire slaughter-lamb operation, or a Swedish Gotland pelt-primary flock. Each system carries its own trait emphasis, grading scheme and economic objective.
AU, ZA, Patagonia, Uruguay. AWEX-wired pricing per micron. Clean fleece weight 2.5×, fibre diameter strongly rewarded — the lower your micron, the heavier the price premium.
Romney, Coopworth, Corriedale, Border Leicester. NZ pastoral and Australian high-rainfall maternal flocks. Lambs weaned per ewe joined drives the economics — NLW weighted 2×.
Suffolk, Texel, White Suffolk, Poll Dorset, Hampshire, Charollais, Beltex. Used over maternal ewes for slaughter progeny. Wool zeroed; lean weight + muscle depth weighted heavily.
Dorper, White Dorper, Katahdin, St Croix, Damara. US southern, southern African, tropical regions. Faecal egg count and parasite resistance are first-order — WEC weighted −2× (lower is better).
Sweden Gotlandsfår, Iceland, Karakul (Namibia, Central Asia). Slaughter at 13–18 kg carcass for premium pelt — pelt revenue can exceed carcass at klass 1. Pälskvalitet 4×, Lockighet 3.5×.
French Roquefort country, Mediterranean dairy systems. Milk yield drives revenue — weighted 4×. Milk protein 1.8×. Somatic cell count strongly penalised.
Cattle mate-allocation logic doesn't fit sheep. Sheep operations run ram:ewe ratios from 1:50 to 1:100, single-sire stud matings alongside multi-sire commercial mobs, and split maternal vs terminal mob mating. Genemap's MAS.1 module handles all of it natively — min-cost-flow optimisation of which ram team goes on which mob, with inbreeding caps, usage caps and maternal/terminal split.
The first sheep platform globally to do this as a self-serve product.
Not a cattle product with sheep tacked on. Sheep economics, sheep evaluations, sheep mating logic, sheep grading — all native.
AWEX EMI + 10 micron-specific MPGs (16-28μm), British Wool auction averages, NZ Wool strong / fine / lamb wool, ASI USD per pound by grade — all encoded as reference indicators in the bioeconomic engine. Daily live-pull is on the API roadmap; today you can override per-country micron premia in the Profile UI.
AU Sheep Genetics (LAMBPLAN/MERINOSELECT/KIDPLAN), MLP; NZ SIL + nProve; US NSIP; UK Signet + RamCompare; IE Sheep Ireland; FR IDELE; ES MERAGEM; NO Sauekontrollen; IS RML; SE Elitlamm; UY SUL; AR INTA Patagonia; BR GENSOR; CA GenOvis; ZA Logix Sheep. Real percentile bands are integrated for AU Sheep Genetics today; other systems carry source-URL metadata and are flagged "label-only" until upstream tables are ingested.
Pälskvalitet, Lockighet, Lyster, Färg as first-class evaluable traits. No mainstream breeding platform supports pelt economics — Genemap does.
The fibre-diameter EBV is worth different money at different micron-bracket premia — Genemap encodes the indicator structure of every covered country so the dollar weight on FD / YFD / AFD reflects the premium curve, not a single average. Producer-editable per Profile UI. Daily live indicator pulls are on the API roadmap (see /api.html).
